Reflection 6/11

Originally I had imagined that my artefacts would influence my story to revolve around a sort of burial as they both can be linked to that as I learned through research. However, I decided in the end to work rather from the psychoactive aspect of a pipe's use in order to link it to my story and create drama. The initial reasons why I picked each of the artefacts didn't even play a full role in my final synopsis.

I learned that often I think best when I'm relaxed rather than when I'm trying to force ideas, so talking over things with people really helped even if I didn't really value their opinion, explaining ideas to others helped to clear things up in my own mind. I also developed my understanding of a film's typical structure through watching the online lecture, I had never considered breaking down films in such a way before. I also found that I ended up taking inspiration in my synopsis from the ideas in the setting the environment brainstorming stage that I had previously thought were a waste of time without consciously meaning to.

What I found most difficult was having faith that I would be able to even come up with an idea that I was satisfied with involving both of my objects, essentially pessimism.

What I enjoyed most was writing (surprisingly)- I hadn't really created many stories before and despite being out of my comfort zone I was relatively happy once I had a rough idea of what my synopsis would revolve around.

Overall, this primer was largely enjoyable once I started getting ideas together although, before this point, I lacked faith in what I would produce, but so do most people- it probably won't go away soon.
